Knowing that the wind would be a factor, I still decided to go check out the beaches. After two completely empty spots, I headed to old faithful. Where the pigeons and surf rats are a plenty. With the large obstruction from the wind, the waves were pretty nice. Afterward, I decided to check the regular windy day spot. 520 Slick. There was only one kite out. She was ripping, but looked pretty cold in her water hoodie. Still caught some nice shots at both the beach and river.
About Candid Surf Sessions
For surf sessions, I never mention the exact location of surf spots. The date and city should be enough to give you a hint of where I was shooting. If you were there, you know where I was. This definitely isn’t blowing up your secret spots. I would never do that with my candid surf session photography.
Wind sports like kiteboarding are very different from surfing. You can’t blow up a location. There is no limit to the number of waves caught. The wind is infinite.
